SBE 3 – the full redesign of our venerable Super Black Eagle platform.

With carefully considered insights from our pro-staff and veteran hunters, Benelli design engineers have spent nearly 10 years in development with a focus on three areas of critical importance to the serious waterfowler.

Improved ergonomics, intuitive, flawless functionality and an updated design, style and feel for the latest in modern waterfowling reliability that’s all about the end game: Absolute superiority in the most unforgiving conditions.

Comfort Tech™ was the first of its kind. By splitting the stock diagonally and utilizing shock-absorbing chevrons, the entire stock was essentially turned into a recoil pad.

This chevron system, now 13 years old, is still the most efficient design possible, and was the basis for the SBE 3 stock. The chevron size and location has been optimized on Comfort Tech 3.

Furthermore, Benelli engineers have developed a new cheek comb pad, Combtech, which greatly reduces facial impact and vibrations.

What is Benelli's Inertia Driven system?

The Inertia Driven system uses the gun's own recoil energy to cycle the action, instead of venting gas from the barrel like a gas-operated shotgun. With no gas ports or pistons, it stays cleaner, has fewer parts to maintain and runs reliably in cold, wet and dirty conditions. The SBE 3 cycles 2¾, 3 and 3½-inch shells.

Is the SBE 3 Timber legal for duck and goose hunting in Canada as it comes?

Not as it comes. The SBE 3 holds 3+1 shells, four in total, while Canadian regulations limit shotguns used on migratory game birds to three shells in total. Fit a magazine plug that reduces capacity to 2+1 before you hunt ducks or geese. The full capacity is fine for upland birds and other legal game.

What comes in the box with the Benelli SBE 3 Timber?

It ships with a hard plastic carry case, five Crio chokes (Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified and Full), a choke wrench and reamer, and a kit to adjust stock drop so you can fit the gun to your build.

How does the Benelli SBE 3 compare to the Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus?

Both are premium 12 gauge waterfowl semi-autos at the same price point. The SBE 3 uses Benelli's Inertia Driven system and weighs about 7 pounds, while the A400 uses Beretta's gas system and weighs about 7.8 pounds. The lighter SBE 3 carries easier, while the heavier gas-operated A400 tends to feel softer with heavy loads.
